OSUN NUJ HOLDS HISTORIC LENTEN LECTURE

 By Titilola Olaniyan The Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Osun State Council, on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, hosted it's inaugural Lenten Lecture at the NUJ Press Centre, Iwo-Ibadan road, osogbo. The event, themed "Maximizing the Blessings of Fasting", drew  prominent personalities, NUJ members, and stakeholders from across the state. In his welcome address, NUJ Osun State Chairman, Dr. Adeyemi Aboderin noted that the lecture was a new initiative by the current executive, aimed at enriching members' spiritual growth. He encouraged attendees to benefit from the lecture, emphasizing it's relevance to their personal and professional lives. The guest lecturer, Bishop Mike Bamidele of the Victory Chapel International explored the significance of fasting, citing the biblical examples such as Moses and Jesus who fasted for forty days. AKIRE OF IKIRELAND OBA OLATUNDE FALABI PASSES AWAY AT 91

 By Titilola Olaniyan   The revered traditional ruler of Ikireland , Oba Olatunde Falabi born on January 20, 1935, passed away on Feburuary 28, 2026. at the age of 91. The Monarch, Oba Olatunde Falabi who was a pharmacist, entrepreneur and farmer by profession before ascending the throne in May 1993. died on February 28, 2026 after a brief illness. Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji , the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Osun State , described Oba Falabi's death as "end of an era" and a collosal loss to Ikireland and Nigeria. According to reports, Oba Olatunde Falabi's body was brought to Ikire and taken to the palace on March 23, 2026. The burial ceremony is Scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026. His over 30-year reign was marked by peace, community progress, and efforts to preserve traditional values while embracing modern advancements. OSUN NUJ/LENTEN LECTURE

  The maiden edition of Osun State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Lenten Lecture will hold tomorrow afternoon (24/03/2026) at the NUJ Press Centre, Iwo-Ibadan Road, Osogbo.  A statement by the chairman organising committee Adeniyi Kehinde and the secretary Olusola Egbedofo indicates that Bishop Mike Bamidele of Victory Chapel International is expected to be the guest lecturer, and will be speaking on the topic "Maximising the Blessings of Fasting".  The event is expected to attract prominent individuals and NUJ members from across Osun State, with Chairman Osun NUJ Council Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin and other executive members in attendance.  The Choir "Grace Bible Mission, Oke-Onitii, Osogbo will also minister in songs among other activities.

Eid al-Fitr: Aare Asejere Greets Muslims, Urges Unity and Sustained Support for Gov. Ademola Adeleke’s People-Centered Governance

Aare Ganiyu Ayobami Olaoluwa Asejere has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across Osun State and beyond on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr , marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan . He commended the Muslim Ummah for their devotion, sacrifice, and discipline during the fasting period, urging them to sustain the values of patience, unity, and compassion in their daily lives. Aare Asejere called on Muslims to embrace unity, peaceful coexistence, and harmony, noting that these virtues are essential for societal progress and development. He further urged continued prayers and support for the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke , stressing the need for collective backing to strengthen people-oriented governance in Osun State. He wished all Muslim faithful a joyful and peaceful Eid celebration, praying for prosperity and enduring peace across the state.

  Charges Polytechnic Community to pray for Adeleke's victory in August Election As Muslims all over the world celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr feast, which ends the thirty days of spiritual dedication the Rector, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree , Mr. Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi , has charged Islamic faithful in the institution to remain steadfast and dedicated to the service of God and humanity. Mr Alabi in a statement to the polytechnic community said the thirty days of fasting and prayer was a unique session which was fervently devoted for spiritual rejuvenation, devoid of sins, but to seek the favour of God. He congratulates the Muslims and charged them to remain focused and keep the light of their faith burning by not going back to all the iniquities abandoned during the Ramadan . This significant celebration, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is a period of gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to the values of peace, sacrifice, and compassion.  The Council commends the Muslim Ummah for their devotion, discipline, and prayers for the unity and progress of Osun State and Nigeria at large. Osun NUJ Emphasises Character Development To Citizens At Ramadan Lecture

This was made known at the Ramadan lecture delivered by a renowned International Cleric, Sheik Gaosu Shabaabu . held at the NUJ Secretariat in Osogbo on Tuesday. The programme which delivered the topic themed " Islam, Ramadan and Refinement of Character " brought together Muslims and Christians to promote interfaith harmony and spiritual growth, aimed to explore the significance of Ramadan in fostering personal growth and spiritual development. In his lecture, the guest Lecturer, Sheik Jabeer Gaosu Shabaabu,  highlighted the significance of character development in Islam, stressing that the greatest problem in life is "religion without characters."
