Director of Operations, Imole Youth Mobilisation Committee TICC of the Accord Party in Osun State,Mr. Christopher Adetayo,who outlined plans by the administration to expand youths empowerment programme with the creation of jobs opportunities and increased youth participation in governance disclosed that it is part of government efforts to address unemployment. Speaking during the Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists engagement programme tagged "Osun NUJ Guest Platform" in Osogbo, Adetayo said the initiative on skill acquisition and development would be expanded in the coming years to provide more opportunities for youths across the state. The International Press Centre, IPC, Lagos-Nigeria , through its Safety and Protection of Journalists (SPJ) hub condemns the unlawful detention of Olalekan Akindoju , the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Osun State Council , by Policemen at his residence in Osogbo on Thursday, June 11, 2026.  Speaking via a phone call with the Press Freedom Officer, IPC-SPJ Hub, the affected journalist, Olalekan Akindoju confirmed that the incident occurred around 6a.m at his residence. “They invaded my residence this morning around 6a.m, arrested me and seized my phone without any valid explanation. All attempts to identify myself as a journalist failed, as they refused to listen to me or give me opportunity to call anyone,” Akindoju explained. “I was detained for almost five hours before I was released after the intervention of colleagues and the NUJ . Dwellers of Olojabala , Irepodun , Gbidigbi to Owode-Ede lamented abandoning of their road from Osunjela that leads to Owode-Ede/Osu Express road which has been approved since 2024. They remembered the road especially this week when there was traffic from Ilesa Garage to Osunjela, they complained that if their road had been constructed, it would have served as alternative route. Apart from that, farmers are facing difficulties during this raining season as the condition of the road has gone from bad to worst. Transportation fare from the Osunjela junction has increased because of the condition of the road. While speaking, Mr. Ilesanmi one of the dwellers of Olojabala said, Osun State government has diverted their road which was approved since 2024 to another place because their road is not at the main town.
