   The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Auwalu Mahmuda has charged troops providing security for Osun State Off Cycle Gubernatorial Election to be professional and adhere strictly to the Code of Conduct for Election duty . He made the call, today, 7 August 2026, while addressi ng troops that will be supporting the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for the election, at Engineer Construction Command (ECC), Ede, Osun State .  Major General Mahmuda underscored the critical nature of the task the NA has placed on their shoulders, as part of their constitutional role in providing aid to civil authority. He added that the Exercise tagged "Operation SAFE CONDUCT" will be in support of the NPF, which is the lead agency for the conduct of elections in Nigeria.
