Tomas Adewumi University: strategies to be the first among the universities in Nigeria

Thomas Adewumi University Welcomes The Commander Of The 22 Armour Brigade Sobi Barracks Ilorin.

   The General A. A. Babalola who was accompanied by a delegation of military officers paid a Courtesy Visit to Thomas Adewunmi University.

The Commander who was warmly received by the management of the institution, humbly led by the Vice Chancellor Professor Francisca Oladipo, she stated that the Military’s  commitment to ensure the safety and security of the students and residents in Oko Irese community is appreciated.

   During the visit, General Babalola inspected various part of the University facilities, Engineering workshop and the TAU Solar farm. He remarked that he was pleased with the University’s efforts in maintaining a secure campus and pledged undying support of the 22 Brigade’s team to further intensify security measures.

   He said the 22 Armour Brigade are completely dedicated to work close with TAU to assure the safety of students and staff members, The Vice Chancellor of TAU expressed her gratitude for General Babalola’s visit, she talked about the factors that make TAU a self-sustaining institution from the TAU Solar power supply for the entire campus to the farms where the food production makes TAU stand out as a self-support system.


THOMAS ADEWUNMI UNIVERSITY WILL BE THE BEST SOON- VC

The Vice-Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Prof. Fransica Oladipo in a Chat with Mass Communication Students of TAU said that TAU will soon become one of the best universities in Kwara and Nigeria.

She added that going by the achievements the school has recorded within a short period, the school is definitely on a quest to be on the top ranking amongst other schools.

The Vice Chancellor further said that; “ in terms of ranking, TAU used to be 252 in Nigeria, 87th amongst all Private Universities  and 7th in Kwara but today it is 64th in Nigeria, 7th amongst Private Schools and 4th in Kwara State.


THOMAS ADEWUMI UNIVERSITY PARTNERS SAYLOR ACADEMY TO IMPROVE STUDENTS 

Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) has announced a new partnership with Saylor Academy which is based in the United States, the goal of this partnership is to provide flexible and on-demand learning opportunity for (TAU) students. 

Students will be able to earn skills development certificate from Saylor Academy free online professional development courses. 

 To adapt rapidly to the changing economy, this  partnership provides key skills needed to start  a career and complement TAU’s  already excellent degree program.

The Executive Director of Saylor Academy, Jeff  Davidson stated that “the collaboration which is our first in Nigeria is innovative and inspiring.”


THE VICE CHANCELLOR HOLDS MEETING WITH STAFF 

The Vice Chancellor Professor Francisca .O. Oladipo held  a meeting with members of the Faculty of Health and Medical Science, the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, and The Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences.

During the meeting, Prof. Oladipo stated that she is available to give ear to  their challenges and will ensure that issues are resolved for the comfort of the staff.

She urged the early career lecturers to write and co - author and publish articles, as wells as write research proposals.


VICE CHANCELLOR OF THOMAS ADEWUNMI UNIVERSITY ENCOURAGES MASS COMMUNICATION STUDENTS TO EXCEL IN THEIR FIELD.

UNIVERSITIES SHOULD NOT BE TO MAKE PROFIT BUT A SOCIAL INVESTMENT – VC

The Vice Chancellor of Thomas Adewunmi University has stated that the aim of every University should be for Social Investment and not Profit.

She stated this in an interview with Mass Communication Students of Thomas Adewunmi University.

       Using examples of how Thomas Adewunmi University has employed labour, she added that the focus of the  university is for students to work, learn  and also pursue their academic goals.

          The Vice Chancellor said that she tries to balance between the income and expenditures, and so that the school doesn’t over shoot expenditure so as not to run at a loss. She further explained that the quest to maintain the income and expenditure make the school do things by themselves instead of employing the services of contractors.


TAU SETS TO COMMENCE LARGE SCALE AGRICULTURE

From humble beginnings to bountiful harvest as Thomas Adewumi University set out to commence large scale agriculture project. According to  the Vice Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Professor Francisca Oladipo during an interview session with TAU Mass Communication students, the agriculture project is a move that is expected to boost food security and create job opportunities in the surrounding communities. 

Prof. Oladipo further said that  the school already has a Fish Pond that is filled with Catfish and other types of fish due to the recent complains of the students concerning the Panla fish offered to them. The project which is inline with the university's vision of promoting sustainable development will focus on some things like cultivating cassava and cash crops and also improve by buying massively from farmers of Oko town for both the students and for export reasons.

She added that the school will also involve in construction of dams for hydrogen purpose. The school will partner with a German company for Bamboo. The school will ensure to make this agriculture project a success and develop a better food security for the students and staffs.

THOMAS ADEWUMI UNIVERSITY JOINS CONSORTIUM OF UNIVERSITIES FOR GLOBAL HEALTH

Thomas Adewumi University grandly celebrates her acceptance into the Consortium of Universities for Global Health as a member.

TAU’s acceptance in the Consortium of Universities for Global Health has opened the ground of opportunities for TAU to participate or get involved in Global health matters by contributing solutions to Global Health matters through her collaboration with CUGH and also to stand side by side with other first world-class institutions like Harvard, Cornell, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine etc.

This collaboration will bring about cross-pollination of knowledge and expertise on global health and  the expansion of research horizon.

With this development, Thomas Adewumi University is set to give more improvement to global health care matters and transform the world with good health life.


 THOMAS ADEWUNMI UNIVERSITY STARTS WEST CAMPUS 

To provide an environment where persons with similar courses or field of study can relate together academically, Thomas Adewunmi Unversity has established another campus.

The Campus which is known as the West Campus houses the Faculty of  Law Students and the Faculty of Arts and Management Science Students (Mass communication, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Criminology and Security Studies)

 The Vice Chancellor, Prof. francisca  Onalapo Oladipo in her remark mentioned that the student should not refer to the west campus as “TAICO” because the West campus is an extension of the university while Thomas Adewunmi International college, Oko(TAICO)  is a secondary school.

         She further explained  that the management of the university wanted to create a sense of identity and belonging for each department which could help to foster a sense of togetherness and unity between the departments.


THOMAS ADEWUMI UNIVERSITY HOSTS ‘AIPS UNLEASHED’ TOUR

 Thomas Adewumi University hosted an event that conveyed the world of APIs Together.

The  literary tour’s target which is to help students gain the power and possibilities of APIS with a specific and unique concentration on conveying API  to the forefront held recently.

The AIP literary tour, which has been garnering attention and traction across the country, took the spotlight at Thomas Adewumi University, offering students a unique chance to dissect the exciting fields of APIS. The tour ushered in Mr. Afolayan Stephen who shared his unique perspective on how AIPS disrupting industries and creating opportunities for innovation. The centerpiece of the event was the API 101 session, where students were introduced to the basics of application programming interface.

            He introduced the university students to the idea of APIS and their significance in the present digital world. And also how they are big leverage in various sections from various business, technology and beyond. The session provided a practical experience that demonstrate how he simplified API development and testing also makes it useful for developers and student of all levels.

             Speaking during the events, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo was delighted that TAU hosted such an educational event on campus. She added that the university  is committed to providing students with exposure to cutting-edge technologies.

             The API literary tour at Thomas Adewumi University demonstrated the university’s commitment to keeping its student at the cutting-edge of technology and giving them opportunities to expand their horizons .As the event came to an end, the university community looked forward to future initiatives that promotes innovation, learning and growth. The knowledge gained from the API literary tour will definitely motivate and ignite future technological leaders in Nigeria and beyond.          

THOMAS ADEWUMI UNIVERSITY HOLDS TEDxTAU EVENT 

Thomas Adewumi University hosted  it’s first ever Ted×Tau event. The Ted×Tau event which brought the togetherness of brilliant minds was with the theme; “Unleashing Renaissance”.

The University Auditorium nature expressed the reaction of the audience with a thrilling journey in the realms of science, technology,art and many more.

  The Ted×TAU event was not just a forum for speakers to display their intelligence but it was a touching point of view in which it enable the audience or listeners to learn from the speaker talk or ideation Which also have an impact to their professional lives.

       Thomas Adewumi University had not just hosted a gathering of minds but also for future leaders and thinkers. The first TEDxTAU event of the university is to commit the culture of innovation and exploration.The future of Thomas Adewumi University is brighter than we think.


300LEVEL PHYSIOTHERAPY STUDENTS SHOWCASE IMPACTFUL COBES EXPERIENCE AT OKO

The 300 level physiotherapy students of Thomas Adewumi university embarked on a community service at Oko irese recently. 

Speaking with some of the Students, they took turns to illustrate the impact of their intervention on the health outcomes of individual within the community.The students highlighted their experience and the challenges they faced as well as  their interference on the health. 

They talked about how they have to interact with new people and how they saw new faces.COBES project helped their practical experience and also helped them to showcase their commitment by making a positive effect on the life of the people of Oke Ose. Dr Godwin Adumo,who is the dean of basic medical and health sciences faculty commended and praised them for a job well-done and for the way they dedicated their time which they spent well at Oko Ode. 

The COBES presentation allowed the faculty members and students to engage in a meaningful dialogue about the challenges encountered during the program. The suceess of the COBES programne at the oko ode community reflects the institutions dedication to producing well rounded professional who are social and proficient in their activities in the community development.
