NUMACS Africa: A Call for Action

The President, National Union of Mass Communication Students (NUMACS) Snr. Comr. Adedotun Heritage Amoo has urged students of Mass Communication to develop their skills and network as the organize aims to extend to the continent of Africa.

In a statement issued by the President, he appreciated the students for their support and contribution in making 2023 a successful year as far as the association is concerned.

2023 APPRECIATION MESSAGE BY THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT, NATIONAL UNION OF MASS COMMUNICATION (NUMACS)

Preamble

I can't hide my Joy and Happiness towards every member of the National Central Executive's, National Council, Stakeholders, Patrons and all Mass Communication Students for your support, assistance, dedication and commitment towards building NUMACS in the year 2023. 

Matter's Arising:

1. Achievements: A lot of challenges in the year but we can pinpoint some of our achievements which are;

✓ NUMACS Melting Point

✓ Creation of NUMACS State Council

✓ NUMACS Database/ ID Card Portal

✓ Weekly Message (Insights and President Corner)

✓ NUMACS Academic Leadership Summit

✓ Awards of recognition from our institutions

The above can't be achieved without our support and contribution. 

2. Vacant Post: In respect to the National Central Executive's, the post of the National Vice President, General Secretary and Director has been vacant for a month due to the resignation of the Executive's involved. I must say these sets of Executive's served NUMACS with all they had and will be rewarded greatly. Therefore, the Senate will look into the matter and give us a modality of how the vacant offices will be filled up.

3. Finance: One of the driven force of any association is finance. NUMACS as a body presently is financially constraint and in some debts but yet once our Auditor release the audited account, we'll know where we stand in place of finance. I am using this medium to call on students who are of influence and can help us out to please come around and let's build NUMACS together. An agreement of 20,000naira per institutions has been agreed upon to be paid as Annual Dues. 

4. 2024 Activities: The 2024 Calendar of Activities has been sent out for us all to plan ahead of our activities. Our Programs will be blended( Physical and Virtual) to reduce the cost of expenses on students. 

5. NUMACS Africa: As part of our plan to build relationships and extend relationship, we are coming up with a project tagged: NUMACS Africa 🌍. This project aims at connecting with Communication Students across Africa and learn together because we never can tell where we'll meet ourselves tomorrow to practice what we've learnt. It's a huge project and once again, I'm calling on students who are interested in serving with their skills or in one capacity to get the project done.

Conclusion:

As we enter the year 2024, I want us all to set our goals right, develop our Skills, Interact and Network with Students outside your Institutions. I pray we'll have many more reasons to celebrate together. Thank You

14th Convocation Ceremony: JABU Graduates 467 Students

 By Olayinka Awofadeju At Joseph Ayo Babalola University Vice Chancellor's press conference held on 4th December, 2023 at the Senate Chamber. Vice Chancellor, Professor Olaosebikan Fakolujo that the University graduated 467 students while 23 finished with first class, 205 finished with second class upper, 172 finished with second class lower and others are within third class to pass. The overall best graduating student for the academic session was Mary Ayobayo from Computer Science. She graduated with 4.89, which is a step better than the last best graduating student who finished with 4.87. While speaking, VC made it known that the school equally graduated 12 PhD students in 2022/2023 academic session. Eight PhD students graduated from the department of Entrepreneurship, three from Business Administration while one graduated from Accounting department.
