By Olayinka Awofadeju

Suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) has killed Six people, four quranic school pupils (Almajiris) and two adults on Saturday at Gubio local government area of Borno State.

The council chairman of Gubio, Alhaji Mali Gubio said the incident happened in an uncompleted building around 11:00am. "All the people involved are dead, with this, no one knows exactly how it happened, but it was an IED explosion in the house where scrap metals were kept".

"Corpses were recovered, but we can't identify the corpses of the two adults at the scene and no one has come to claim them."

He said the state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has banned metal scavenging in the state to prevent vandalization of government facilities in deserted communities.

He said many people believed that metal scavengers unknowingly collected and stored the IED along with other metal in the building close to the quranic school (Tsagaya).
