The incident occurred on 27/1/2024 at about 9:48 pm after the 50th Coronation Anniversary of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin where one Prince Eniola Oyeyode 'm' of Ejigbo Instructed one of his civilian guards named Hammed Abdul Jelili ‘m’ of Ejigbo to fire his double barrel gun into the air to confirm if the gun is in good condition or not, but instead shot directly at the victim and he was rushed to a hospital but confirmed dead by the Doctor. By Olayinka Awofadeju  Suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) has killed Six people, four quranic school pupils (Almajiris) and two adults on Saturday at Gubio local government area of Borno State. The council chairman of Gubio, Alhaji Mali Gubio said the incident happened in an uncompleted building around 11:00am. "All the people involved are dead, with this, no one knows exactly how it happened, but it was an IED explosion in the house where scrap metals were kept".  "Corpses were recovered, but we can't identify the corpses of the two adults at the scene and no one has come to claim them." He said the state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has banned metal scavenging in the state to prevent vandalization of government facilities in deserted communities. He said many people believed that metal scavengers unknowingly collected and stored the IED along with other metal in the building close to the quranic school (Tsagaya).

Barrister Dapo Adekunle died on 21st January, 2023 and was buried on 28th January, 2023. Today marked a year he was buried.
