HOW BAD MEDIA CAUSED THE PROFESSIONAL 'DEMISE' OF MOFONROYE
Last year when Prince 'Tunji Moronfoye was still the Kwara state publicity scribe of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, I had written to him when he goofed in one of his write-ups to state categorically that he was unfit for the job even if he was a graduate of English handling media jobs for the opposition party. I had further stated plaintively that he was merely a muckraker, a pathological liar and a very bad writer with jerky grammar. I had tutored him on propaganda stating that propaganda which has three main features can only succeed on well researched and investigated facts not on the 'hearsay facts' of his dilapidating party, the PDP.
Moforonye soon saw himself in a web of controversies that later turned the leadership of his party against him in Kwara State. The leadership of the party found regrettably that the man was indeed unfit for the publicity job of the party, surely not cut out for the image making of a major opposition party in the state. His appointment to that office was indeed a tragedy for the PDP.
It was a John Donne-like “conceit,” an unfazed intellectual poetry that questions about every seemingly settled matter — which, however with Moforonye exposes a real tragic conceit: he was politically empty, and a self-conceited media loud-mouth, all din, but absolutely no stuff.
Moronfoye's Judgment Day came and it was such a resounding thunder clap of disgraceful defeats! He suffered over and over in his press releases targeted at Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who will not hurt a fly, a man in governance of his dear state, a Jason not ready to steal from the state purse like Mofonroye's national party leader, an Alibaba who almost sent Kwara to the League of Chronic State Debtors but for the timely intervention of the All Progressives' Congress, APC, that robustly defeated a crony of Bukola Saraki at the 2019 elections.
No tears for Moforonye when he finally threw in the towel for fear of a chain of libel suits which could have cleaned up his little fat purse.
How did this errant man-child ever grace Kwara’s PDP highest media seat? It was a hurried media assemblage after the demise of Ashaolu, a man who knew well how party media game is played. But the bad, internecine politics of the party in Kwara harried him to his early grave.
This again echoed the misadventure and maybe the potency of Karma in Kwara's PDP politics.
TODAY, Bukola Saraki, in the words of an anonymous writer has become an internally displaced person (IDP) from the Kwara empire of his father, Baba Oloye.
Today too, Mofonroye is also an internally displaced politician and a failed media scribe.
Today also, Mofonroye whom I once labelled 'a fatso media failure' has de-marketed himself. This media misadventure appears to have been his end-of-the-road. Any resurrection? Highly unlikely. Perhaps in his next world, if there be any, he would learn to be more CAREFUL in whichever profession he found himself. This should also be a good lesson to the pigeon-citizen journalist called Solyment who replaced him in the 'decomposing' secretariat of the PDP in Kwara State.
