Iwude ijesha 2023: Osun Govt. is committed to Culture & Tourism development, says Bankole Ojo

The present administration in Osun state is committed to the development of culture and will not do anything short of promoting it, locally and internationally. 

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Bankole Ojo, who disclosed this, therefore called for the support of all and sundry as government alone can not do it. 

 He made this known at the year 2023 Iwude- Ijesa festival held at Owa Palace, Ilesha.

The commissioner who congratulated the entire people of Ijesha land for the successful hosting of the annual festival which is regarded as one the rallying points for all Ijeshas at home and diaspora stressed that, yoruba culture is very essential and cannot be undermined among other cultures in the world. 

He further explained that the present administration under the leadership of Senator Ademola Adeleke is a lover of culture and Tourism, saying that the administration is committed to ensuring that ,Yoruba culture is rescued from going into extinction.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Barrister Dosu Babatunde as well as Mrs Fausat Sarumi Adebanjo in separate interviews with newsmen, explained that, the annual Iwude Ijesha festival is a celebration of unity among Ijesha people, stressing that it is an age long cultural event which is also referred to as Iwude Ogun. 

While congratulating the State Government for achieving the much desired success in promoting culture and Tourism in the State, the Chairman, Osun Tourism Development Board, Mr Kayode Adeleke admonished the people of ijesha land to co-operate with the State Government and remain united. 

In his royal speech, the Owa of Obokun Adimula of Ilesha land, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II congratulated the people of ijesha land for witnessing this year's festival. He charged them to sustain the unity among them so as to foster development in the land.

The event was graced by the present and past government officials, staff and management of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism led by its permanent Secretary, Mrs Adebimpe Ogunlumade .

Management and staff of Osun State Tourism Development Board led by its General Manager, Mrs Oluwatoyin Ajayi, Council for Art and Culture led by its Executive Secretary, Mrs Solape Abolarin among others were also in attendance.
