ONDO SWEARS IN DEPUTY GOVERNOR, AIYEDATIWA AS GOVERNOR TODAY

The acting governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, will be sworn in as governor of the state today in Akure, the state capital, the information came from members of the state government.
The development is in line with Section 191(1) of the 1999 constitution, as amended which states that, “The Deputy Governor of a State shall hold the office of Governor of the State if the office of Governor becomes vacant by reason of death, resignation, impeachment, permanent incapacity, or removal of the governor from office for any other reason in accordance with sections 188 or 189 of this constitution.”
Oduduwa Media learnt that Aiyedatiwa was already on his way to Akure from Igbokoda where he had gone for the Christmas and New Year break.
“The swearing-in is slated to be held at the Cocoa Conference Hall in Akure. Though, time for the event has not been fixed.” a top government source revealed.
Akeredolu died in a German hospital on Wednesday morning – an incident which had generated reactions and condolences from several quarters.
