Uniqueness of Joseph Ayo Babalola University
Joseph Ayo Babalola University was established in the year 2006 and licenced by the federal executive council of Nigeria and owned by Christ Apostolic Church of Nigeria and Oversea. The University was established in full obedience to Divine instruction and this makes it different from other institutions in both Nigeria and overseas.
Joseph Ayo Babalola University was the first Entrepreneurial established University in Nigeria where students graduate with certificate and skills to better their lives after years in school. In this, JABU leads while many other universities now queue after.
In terms of ICT, JABU has a very good hands coordinating the activities. This makes both students and staff to be enjoying wireless data and it equally makes teaching effective as lecturers can research to advance their knowledge. Students too are benefitting in this area as they can source for information at e-library or on their personal gadgets with School WiFi.
JABU is also blessed with qualified hands teaching the students in all the Departments and Colleges in the institution. JABU also allows self development by both lecturers and non teaching staff. lecturers can advance their knowledge by enrolling for higher degree either in JABU or in other institutions in Nigeria and abroad.
Many other institutions particularly private universities do not allow their staff to develop themselves by visiting another universities even in Nigeria not to talk of overseas. Some deduct salaries of their staff for developing themselves while others make lives difficult for their staff developing themselves in other ways.
While talking during JABU Vice Chancellor, Professor Olaosebikan Alade Fakolujo press briefing on Monday 04th December, 2023. He listed various ways in which JABU has been treating its staff and students which can't be found in other private universities and even public universities.
He mentioned payment of palliatives to staff members since September 2023 and which will continue till economy is normal in Nigeria. This step was taken before Federal Government decided to pay palliative to civil servants and other state government also queue after. Yet, their palliatives are far below what JABU pays the staff.
JABU has become role model for federal government, state government and other Universities in Nigeria when it comes to doing right things.
Timely and regular payment of staff, this is another uniqueness of the school. We read and heard from lecturers from other private and public universities how their management have been owing them salaries, this is different when it comes to JABU as there is regular payment of salaries and other benefits.
Regular promotion of qualified staff as at when due. All these encouraged the staff to give their best to advance the institution all the time. May be that's why the institution is running Ph.D in majority of the programmes in the school.
JABU also compete with public universities in terms of having best professors, and donate to public universities professors to be their Vice Chancellor. Majority of private universities get their Vice Chancellor from public universities while JABU has produced Vice Chancellor for a state university.
Lastly, discipline is effective in the institution. Both staff and students follow order of the school, this is why parents prefer to bring their children to JABU than any other institutions.
The Vice Chancellor is no nonsense man, Professor Olaosebikan Alade Fakolujo is a disciplinarian and tolerate no indiscipline in the institution.
