The Osun State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists has inaugurated the new executive for Federated Chapel of the state.

The inauguration took place on 3rd September, 2025 at NUJ Press Center, Osogbo.

Dr. Peter Olayinka AWOFADEJU was sworn in as the Chairman of the chapel, along with Mr. Oyewole Temitope as Secretary.

While inaugurating the new Exco members, the Council Secretary declared that, "as directed by the state council due to the prevailing circumstances surrounding the change of power in the chapel, only the Chairman, Dr. Peter Olayinka AWOFADEJU and the Secretary, Mr. Oyewole Temitope obtained nomination forms to their offices since about eight months ago when the outgone exco had been desolved and the NUJECO credentials committee headed by Dr. Simon Oladimeji Pinheiro was put in place."

According to the Council Secretary, it is important to inaugurate the Exco in order not to create vacuum in leadership of the chapel. He charged the new leaders to revitalize the chapel and put in place other members of the executive to drive the wheel of the chapel.

He maintained that "Federated Chapel consists of practicing media professionals in various organizations in the state who have registered as members of the union." He urged them to keep the chapel alive with ethical practices of the NUJ. He asserted that there should be newspaper publications at regular intervals to affirm the existence of the Chapel in the state.

While responding, the newly inaugurated Chairman promised to animate the chapel and keep to the advise of the state council secretary.

In attendance were members of the chapel, including Dr. Tope Abiola, the Dean student and media officer of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Mr. Tunji Oyewole of The Federal Polytechnic, Ede and many others.
