We will formulate policies, programmes that will promote Osun tourism sector - Adeleke

The Chairman, Osun State Tourism Board, Hon. Taiwo Adeleke has disclosed that the State Tourism Board will do everything within its power to formulate policies and programmes that will promote the growth and development of tourism and cultural heritage in the state.

He stated this in Osogbo in his opening remarks during the stakeholders meeting of Oduafest Osun 2024.

He explained that the event, which is billed to hold for three days between 23rd and 25th of June, 2024, aims to harness the power of culture and tourism for sustainable development, saying it is not only to help in creating a vibrant tourism industry, but will also play a crucial role in preserving our cultural heritage, thereby promoting the economic growth of the South West, especially, Osun state.

Speaking earlier, the General Manager, Osun Tourism Board, Mrs Oluwatoyin Ajayi, expressed her appreciation to the leadership of the Board, headed by Hon. Taiwo Adeleke and the State Government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, for approving the programme, noting that it will be of immense benefit to communities, as they will have the privilege of showcasing their unique cultural identities.

In his own words, the South West Vice- President, Mr. Kolade Babatunde, FTAN, emphasized that the main purpose of the stakeholders meeting was to unlock the potentials of culture and tourism in our society. He, therefore, enjoined the stakeholders to cooperate maximally with the programme organizers and the State government to make it a successful outing.

The meeting was attended by members of Traditional Religion Worshipers Association , National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Osun State chapter, curators, trainers and singers as well as the staff and management of Osun State Tourism Board among others.
