Osun 2025 LG Election: Egbedore LG Chairman is Our Turn - Hon. Jimoh Isiaka Oladele
By Olayinka Awofadeju
Speaking with Oduduwa Media, Hon. Jimoh Isiaka Oladele claimed that Ofatedo has been sidelined since 1999 during Baba Akande's time.
Honourable while confidently expressing his mind said from the history of democracy in Egbedore Local Government, Ofatedo, Olorunsogo and Okinni (ward 10 with 35 polling units) have never been opportune to produce Egbedore Local Government Chairman.
Highlighting the details, he claimed that during Baba Akande as governor of Osun State, Hon. Adubi who came from Ara town was the Chairman, while at the same time Ara town produced Osun State House of Assembly (Hon. Omolaoye). This was between 1999 to 2003.
2003 to 2004, Hon. Gbadebo Oye Ajao from Ido-Osun was appointed as Caretaker Chairman for a year. Followed by Honorable Ajetumobi from Ido-Osun who spent four years as Chairman. The first year as Caretaker Chairman and the remaining three years as substantive Chairman of Egbedore Local Government.
Next in line was Hon. Soji Akinpelu, as Caretaker Chairman who came from Iragberi, followed by Hon. Bamidele Salam from Awo town as Chairman.
Engr. Ibrahim Akande followed in line from Ara town also before governor Aregbesola divided the council and shared LCDAs . Since then, there has been no any serious election to local government in Osun State. Till now, Ofatedo, Olorunsogo and Okinni (ward 10) have never produced Chairman since 1999.
Presently, the other wards produced House of Representative (Awo), Osun State House of Assembly (Iragberi), Commissioner of Finance (Iragberi), LGEA Chairman (Ara) and the Secretary to LGEA (Iwoye) while nothing came from Ofatedo, Olorunsogo and Okinni (ward 10).
Talking about performance during elections, Ofatedo always leads. Ofatedo, Olorunsogo, Okinni and Ido-Osun with two wards have 47 polling units while the other side with eight wards have 43 polling units. "As Ofatedo decides faith of elections, we have been sidelined since 1999. Key positions have always elude us, this local government chairman is our turn".
Hon. Jimoh Isiaka Oladele pleaded with the political leaders in Egbedore to be fair in there selection and favour Ofatedo at this time.
