Awofadeju Mourns Owa Obokun, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran

Dr. Awofadeju Peter Olayinka, an indigene of Ilesa, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State extends his heartfelt condolences to the entire Ijesa land and the family of the late Owa Obokun, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, who joined his ancestors on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. 

According to sources, the monarch was admitted to Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife, Osun State, until his passing on Wednesday 11th September, 2024. He was 87 years old and reigned for 42 years.

Oba Aromolaran was a trailblazer, being the first Ijesa monarch to hold a PhD in Economics. He authored his first publication, 'Economics for West Africa,' in 1966. His passing leaves a void in Ijesa land, and he will be deeply missed for his good deeds.

Dr. Awofadeju Peter Olayinka prays that God grants the Osun State government, the Ijesa land, royal council and his immediate family the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
