Osun Govt. Celebrates 2024 World Tourism Day in Grand Style

Every 27th day of September is annually set aside to commemorate annual World Tourism Day.

Osun,just like other countries of the world was not left out in year 2024 edition,which was marked in grand style at Ibodi in Atakunmosa West Local Government Area of the State.

Addressing the participants,Osun State Governor,Senator Ademola Adeleke disclosed that his administration will never toy with the promotion of Culture and Tourism hence the need to do everything within its power to boost the many tourism potentialities of the state.

He described the choice of Ibodi town for this year's celebration as apt because of its uniqueness as one of the embodiments of Culture and Tourism in Osun state.

Governor Adeleke who spoke through the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Bankole Ojo therefore enjoined the people of Ibodi town and Osun state as a whole to cooperate with the present administration. He assured them that the present administration will not shy away from doing everything morally and officially possible to make Ibodi town one of the much sought places of tourist attraction especially because of the large concentration of monkeys in the town.

The Oloja of Ibodi town,Oba Cornelius Omisade Agboluade, in his royal speech, appreciated the State government for her support,particularly in hosting this year's World Tourism Day in his Ibodi domain.

The guest speaker at the occasion, Mr Tunde Oyesiji, who spoke on this year's world Tourism Day theme "Tourism and Peace" enunciated that all towns have their own cultural assets which, according to him, if properly harnessed could increase the socio economic cum political landmarks of a given town.

He ascertained that, no other region in Nigeria has cultural heritage assets like Yorubas, pointing out that all these are enough to bring peace and harmony.

The event which was laced with series of activities, such as display display and dance by Osun State Cultural Troupe was graced by the staff and management of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism led by its Permanent Sectary, Mrs Adegbemisola Fayoyin, staff of Osun State Tourism Board led by its General Manager, Mrs Oluwatoyin Ajayi and Osun State Council for Arts and Culture led by its Executive Sectary, Mrs Solape Abolarin among other dignitaries from far and near.

14th Convocation Ceremony: JABU Graduates 467 Students

 By Olayinka Awofadeju At Joseph Ayo Babalola University Vice Chancellor's press conference held on 4th December, 2023 at the Senate Chamber. Vice Chancellor, Professor Olaosebikan Fakolujo that the University graduated 467 students while 23 finished with first class, 205 finished with second class upper, 172 finished with second class lower and others are within third class to pass. The overall best graduating student for the academic session was Mary Ayobayo from Computer Science. She graduated with 4.89, which is a step better than the last best graduating student who finished with 4.87. While speaking, VC made it known that the school equally graduated 12 PhD students in 2022/2023 academic session.
