Osun State Needs Massive and Unbiased Employment
By Oduduwa Media
Close to twenty years of real and publicized employment in Osun State under former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, there is no real and unbiased employment in Osun State.
Twelve years of All Progressive Congress rulling in Osun State, only backdoor employment were done for their party members.
Youths were turned to sweepers and bush cutters under Osun State Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES) under Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and governor Oyetola. Graduates mean nothing to our leaders, yet establishing new universities, and converting NCEs and Polytechnics into universities in Nigeria.
Many graduates have become scammers when there is no job for them and they have acquired skills from their various universities.
This is third year of governor Ademola Adeleke's government in Osun State, he needs to massively employ youths to civil service work and to all our higher institutions, hospitals and health centres without bias. The time when governors were celebrated for empowerment like OYES and Imole Corps has gone, these youths deserve career jobs than glorified empowerment.
The chairman of Progressive Youth Forum, Dr. Awofadeju Peter advised the governor to take the employment as number one thing now and release employment letters to those interviewed and qualified teachers, OSBC contract staff that governor promised full employment, regularize all part time staff at all our higher institutions, health centers, hospitals, ministries at governor's office (Abere) and other employable Youths seeking jobs.
Mr. Governor should not be bias in the employment process as there has been accusations from the people of Osun State over the lopsided appointment of Osun State Polytechnic Rector and that of Osun State College of Technology Esa-Oke in favour of Ede indigenes and promotion of Ede people to some key areas in the ministries and political spare.
According to Dr. Awofadeju, governors shouldn't be complaining of how to pay the salary of newly employed staff, allocation has been increased from the federal government from subsidy removal, governors should let the masses, including the youths at their various state benefit through employment to cater for themselves and their family.
