2025 Isese Day: Governor Adeleke Reaffirms Commitment to Reposition Culture and Tourism Sector

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to repositioning the culture and tourism sector through purposeful policies and programmes, saying the initiative is aimed at promoting indigenous festivals and strengthening cultural-tourism in the state.
Speaking at the 2025 Universal Day for African Traditional Religion, popularly known as Isese day, held in Osogbo, the State Capital, Governor Adeleke described culture as one of Osun’s greatest assets.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Bankole Ojo, who spoke on this year's theme, “A Happy Home is the Foundation of a Prosperous Nation,” stressed it's time to reflects the values of the Yoruba traditional belief system in building a better society.
The State helmsman appealed for the continuous prayers of royal fathers and traditionalists for peace, progress, and prosperity in the state.
He also called for the release of withheld local government funds to enable grassroots development.
In his remarks, President of the Traditional Religion Worshippers Association, Osun State Chapter (TRWASO), Dr. Oluseyi Atanda, commended the state government for supporting traditionalists, including the donation of 500 bags of 50kg rice for the festival.
He emphasized the need for parents to instill cultural values in children, while also urging the government to further develop the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, particularly through road construction and protection against land encroachment.
The event was graced by prominent traditional rulers, including representatives of the Ooni of Ife, Ataoja of Osogbo, Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, and other dignitaries, alongside officials of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Osun State Tourism Board, and the Council for Arts and Culture, among others.
