Adeleke Pledges total upgrade of Osun Osogbo Groove to sustain its local,national,international fame.

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continue to make Osun Osogbo Sacred Groove a national and international tourist attraction
As a step towards realizing this, the Governor announced an all round rehabilitation of all major access roads to the grove.
The Governor, who was represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, made this known at the grand finale of the 2025 Osun Osogbo Festival.
Adeleke who on the occasion congratulated the Ataoja of Osogbo, his chiefs and the entire natives and non natives of the town on the success of this years festival, emphasised his administration’s dedication to preserving and promoting Osun’s rich cultural heritage.
According to him “We have huge potential in the tourism sector. Osun is the cradle of the Yoruba race and home to significant cultural treasures. We are determined to make Osun the leading tourism destination in Nigeria and beyond.”
He noted that in recent years, the state government has supported the organisers and managers of the groove with the rehabilitation of the arena, cleaning of the sacred stream, and other upgrades.
“We are now set to rehabilitate the internal roads within the groove to improve access and comfort for visitors, including international tourists,” he added.
While speaking, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Bankole Ojo, also congratulated the Ataoja of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun and the people of his domain for the success of this year’s festival.
Hon. Ojo in the same vein called for stronger partnerships with the Adeleke led administration by the people of Osogbo and Osun state at large to further develop culture and tourism, describing the two sectors as vital tools to be effectively harnessed to showcase the state and its people to national and international reckonings.
Also speaking, Chairman, Osun State Tourism Board, Hon. Taiwo Adeleke and his counterpart from Osun State Council for Arts and Culture, Hon, Ebenezer Adeniji (Ebenco) described as Osun state in general as naturally blessed by nature in terns of culture and tradition,which over the years has the state a tourism destination for many nationalities from different countries of the world.
In his royal message, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun expressed gratitude to God for another successful celebration just as he thanked Governor Ademola Adeleke for his commitment to cultural and tourism development of the state , particularly the planned rehabilitation of the Osun Osogbo groove.
The monarch used the opportunity of the festival to also appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take an urgent action over the over six months withheld local government monthly allocations accruing to Osun state from the federal government.
The colourful festival featured cultural dances and traditional rites. It also attracted dignitaries like the Are Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Otunba Gani Adams; Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, Chief Nike Okundaye of Nike Art Gallery; representatives of former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Dr. Oluseyi Atanda, President of TRASO; traditional worship leaders; former First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun; senior officials of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; members of the Osun State Tourism Board; and the State Council for Arts and Culture.
