OSSG unveils Business-Driven Tourism Strategy to woo Investors

A move to make Osun one of the potent industrial hubs in the South West and beyond has been unveiled by Ademola Adeleke led administration in the tourism sector.
The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Bankole Ojo, disclosed the position of the government while declaring open “Osun Tourism Extravaganza Mega Expo 2025” held in Osogbo,the Osun State capital .
The two-day event, with the theme"Harnessing Cultural Resources for Sustainable Tourism Development," provided an official avenue to showcase the many untapped economic potentials of tourism,which nature endowed the state with.
Hon. Ojo at the event emphasized that the vision of Osun state government led Adeleke is committed to moving tourism beyond mere dancing and cultural performances.
Instead,it is geared towards promoting talents in creative arts, as well as empower those in the tourism and hospitality industries.
He affirmed that Osun is ripe for tourism investment and this new direction is basically aimed at boosting Internally Generated Revenue and a very veritable platform of creating jobs that are viable.
The Chairman, Osun State Tourism Board, Hon. Taiwo Adeleke, alongside an Abuja-based Enculturation Consultant, Mrs. Oluwadamilola Oni, in their remarks saluted the thinking and concern of Ademola Adelele led administration in the tourism sector .
They expressed the view that the initiative will inject new energy into the internationally acclaimed annual Osun Osogbo Festival which brings different people from different parts of the world to Osun.
Mrs. Oni particularly revealed the salient features of the Osun Osogbo calendar. This year’s edition, running from August 6th to 7th, will include activities such as a cultural street parade, historical tours to significant sites like the Osun Sacred Grove, Ataoja’s Palace, Arugba’s Compound, and Nike Art Gallery. The grand finale on the second day will feature an award night honoring key contributors to the state’s tourism and hospitality sectors, including a posthumous award to the late Executive Secretary of the Osun State Council for Arts and Culture, Olori Solape Abolarin.
She also announced that the awards night would celebrate the newly elected South West Vice President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, Mr. Gbenga Daudu Sunmonu.
Highlights of the first day included a debate, quiz competitions, Ijala performances, Ewu displays, and the presentation of merit awards.
The event had in attendance senior officials and staff of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism led by the Director of Museum and Monuments, Mrs. Stella Akinyemi; Osun State Tourism Board led by its General Manager, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ajayi; and the Osun State Council for Arts and Culture, led by its Executive Secretary Mrs. Easter Ajibade.
