Adeleke Calls for Unity, Peace at 2025 Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on political parties and leaders across the state to shun division and embrace unity in the collective interest of development. 

The Governor made the appeal at the year 2025 edition of historic Olojo festival held at the ancient town of Ile-Ife, which coincidentally coincided with the commemoration of the annual World Tourism Day.

Represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, the Governor cautioned against allowing political rivalry to degenerate into violence, urging leaders to place the growth and stability of the state above personal ambitions. 

Adeleke emphasized that harmony among political players would fast-track peace, progress, and prosperity not only in Ile-Ife but across Osun State.

While warmly welcoming political leaders from diverse backgrounds who attended the festival, Governor Adeleke congratulated the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and the people of Ile-Ife for witnessing yet another Olojo Festival. He prayed for continuous peace, unity, and development in the ancient city and the entire state.

In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Bankole Ojo; Chairman, Osun State Tourism Board, Taiwo Adeleke; Chairman, Osun State Council for Arts and Culture, Ebenezer Adeniji; General Manager, Osun State Tourism Board, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ajayi; Executive Secretary, Osun State Council for Arts and Culture, Mrs. Oluwayemisi Ajibade; and Director of Museums and Monuments, Mrs. Stella Akinyemi, underscored the significance of this year’s World Tourism Day, With the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” they noted that tourism goes beyond leisure, serving as a tool for economic growth, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.

Hon. Bankole Ojo particularly stressed the need for sustainable practices in tourism, urging stakeholders, business owners, government agencies, and travelers to work collaboratively in protecting the environment, uplifting local communities, and promoting responsible travel. He emphasized that Osun State must take the lead in building a tourism sector that balances growth with accountability.

The festival, which attracted local and international attention, had in attendance notable personalities including the President of the Yoruba Council Worldwide, Aare Hassan Oladotun; former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Otunba Iyiola Omisore; and the President of the Ife Development Board, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye. Tourists from Canada, Brazil, South Africa, and other parts of the world also graced the occasion.

Also present were management and staff of the Osun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Osun State Tourism Board, and the Osun State Council for Arts and Culture, making the 2025 Olojo Festival not just a cultural celebration but also a platform for strengthening tourism, unity, and sustainable development in Osun State.
