Osun 2026 Governorship Election: ADC Picks Dr. Najeem Salaam as Osun 2026 Governorship Candidate

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam as its governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun election, following a decisive vote held in Lagos on Friday 28th November, 2025.

The party’s apex leadership, after a closed-door deliberation, voted in favour of the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, thereby edging out fellow contender Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, a former Secretary to the State Government.

According to party insiders, the Lagos meeting was convened to settle lingering divisions within the ADC and produce a single, consensus-backed candidate ahead of the 2026 polls. 

The decision ultimately swung in Dr. Salaam’s favour, marking a significant shift in internal party dynamics.

Although Adeoti lost the bid, party stakeholders have urged both camps to maintain unity as the ADC prepares to confront a competitive political field in the coming months.

The party is expected to present Dr. Salaam formally to its Osun chapter and unveil its roadmap for the 2026 governorship election soon.

Osun NUJ Inaugurates Exco for Federated Chapel

The inauguration took place on 3rd September, 2025 at NUJ Press Center , Osogbo . Dr. Peter Olayinka AWOFADEJU was sworn in as the Chairman of the chapel, along with Mr. Oyewole Temitope as Secretary. While inaugurating the new Exco members, the Council Secretary declared that, "as directed by the state council due to the prevailing circumstances surrounding the change of power in the chapel, only the Chairman, Dr. Peter Olayinka AWOFADEJU and the Secretary, Mr. Oyewole Temitope obtained nomination forms to their offices since about eight months ago when the outgone exco had been desolved and the NUJECO credentials committee headed by Dr. Simon Oladimeji Pinheiro was put in place." Osun State LG Election: Observers Adjudged the Ongoing Exercise Peaceful

 Oduduwa Media  Osun State local government election fixed for 22nd February, 2025 started early around 8:15am at Egbedore Local Government, Ward 10 and adjudged peaceful by the observers. The units visited by our reporter showed that the exercise was peaceful as electorates were seen lined up and were attended to contrary to the speculations and fear that the process may turn violence. People interviewed by our reporter advised electorates to come out at other local government to also exercise their franchise without fear.
