2026 Osun State Governorship Election: who can defeat Ademola Adeleke? - Dr. Awofadeju
Dramas witness towards the deadline for Osun State primary election according to the INEC time-table for all the parties is a concern to every dwellers of Osun State which raised question that requires answer, "who can defeat Ademola Adeleke in 2026 governorship election"?
All Progressive Congress (APC) members in Osun State had engaged themselves with attacks on Governor Ademola Adeleke since election process started, their major aim is to disqualify him from featuring in the 2026 governorship election in Osun State. The wish which they took seriously on every social media platforms and physically, they insults/attacks the personality of Osun State Governor.
They were exceedingly glad when the news of his decamping from People's Democratic Party surfaced without mentioning the political party he was decamping to, and as we approach deadline for the governorship primary election. They are relieved as the obstacle on their way to win 2026 governorship election is no more in the race.
But the narrative changed when APC at the national screened seven out of nine aspirants of the party who aspired to participate in the primary election. Those screened our are: Senator Iyiola Omisore, Babatunde Haketer Oralusi, Omooba Oyedotun Babayemi, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, Mr Benedict Alabi, Adegoke Rasheed Okiki SAN, and Senator Babajide Omoworare.
The allegation raised against the APC at the national is that Mr. Isiaka Oyetola the former governor of Osun State and the present Minister for Marine and Blue economy in Nigeria influenced the screening in favour of his annoited man, Mr Munirudeen. In screening exercise, only two candidates scale through who are Mr. Munirudeen and Mrs Mulikat.
A quick critical look at the consensus from African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party's choice is Dr. Najeem Salam, the former Osun State House Assembly Speaker. After their agreement to use Dr. Najeem Salam, the only contestant with him, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti in a furry left the party and gave his support for the incumbent governor, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Truly, some selected part of Osun State say positive about Dr. Najeem Salam's character, but half salaries that pervaded their government when he was the speaker and Rauf Aregbesola was the governor who is currently the national secretary of ADC from where he is contesting is the clog in the wheel of the decision of the masses to vote him as the next governor.
The fear is that, voting ADC can repeat half salaries, using Osun State as collateral to get loan which Osun State is still repaying since he left the government and maladministration that pervaded Aregbesola's government.
With all these, if Governor Ademola Adeleke should announce the party he is to contest his second term bid, who among Dr. Najeem Salam and Mr. Munirudeen can defeat Ademola Adeleke? Even among all disqualified, governor Ademola Adeleke stand taller than them all in performance, image and decency.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has done beyond expectations, a dancing governor who has performed better than twelve years of APC in Osun State and other predecessors within three years in office.
If not the federal might that seize local government allocation to hinder his performance, Osun State under Governor Ademola Adeleke would have been like small London. Yet, with the presence of all intimidation, Governor Ademola Adeleke has really performed greatly.
Indigen and dwellers of Osun State should consider and not waste their votes during 2026 governorship election. Let us bring back Governor Ademola Adeleke for the second term for comfort, beautification of Osun and better future.
