Osun State 2026 Guber: Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam Wins ADC Governorship Ticket

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is pleased to officially announce that Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam IWALOYE, former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, has emerged as the ADC flagbearer and governorship candidate for the August 8, 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.

At the gubernatorial primary election held today in Osogbo, Dr. Salaam secured a commanding 520 out of 528 valid votes cast by accredited party delegates, with only eight ballots declared invalid. The primary, conducted in line with the ADC constitution and supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), demonstrated the party’s commitment to democratic practice and internal transparency. 

Speaking after his victory, Dr. Salaam expressed humility and readiness to serve the people of Osun State. He underscored that his candidature is rooted in a deep sense of service, conscience, and commitment to an inclusive, purposeful governance that departs from punitive politics and prioritizes the well-being of ordinary citizens. His message resonates with the aspirations of Osun residents seeking responsible leadership anchored on accountability, empowerment, and unity.

One killed, custom officer whereabout unknown as Bandits invade Ora igbomina in Osun State

Bandits on Monday night invaded Ora Igbomina in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State , unleashing terror on residents and travellers in the community.  The attackers reportedly stormed Akisa Road in Ora, where they kidnapped a former Customs officer, Prince Owolabi , from his residence.  The invasion threw the town into panic as gunshots rang out during the operation. During the attack, the bandits were also said to have killed the leader of non-indigenes in Ora at his farm and sent his ten years old home to break the news, an incident that further heightened fear and tension among residents.  In a related development, travellers along the Oteere Ila/ Ora axis were reportedly shot by the assailants as they attempted to flee the scene, leaving several people injured and causing motorists to abandon the route. Osun NUJ Inaugurates Exco for Federated Chapel

The inauguration took place on 3rd September, 2025 at NUJ Press Center , Osogbo . Dr. Peter Olayinka AWOFADEJU was sworn in as the Chairman of the chapel, along with Mr. Oyewole Temitope as Secretary. While inaugurating the new Exco members, the Council Secretary declared that, "as directed by the state council due to the prevailing circumstances surrounding the change of power in the chapel, only the Chairman, Dr. Peter Olayinka AWOFADEJU and the Secretary, Mr. Oyewole Temitope obtained nomination forms to their offices since about eight months ago when the outgone exco had been desolved and the NUJECO credentials committee headed by Dr. Simon Oladimeji Pinheiro was put in place."
