Put our fate in our hands: FG should legalize fire arms - Awofadeju, PhD.

The best form of defense is attack as the wise would say. The constant terrorist attacks on Nigerians in the northern part of Nigeria and partly south calls for self defense by citizens of the country.

Nigerians have experienced blame games from the government at all levels and people working with federal government on who is sponsoring terrorism in the country. None has agreed to the allegation of sponsorship.

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are presently investigating and charging some present and former government officers to court for related offenses. Many who were the law makers but eventually found to be law breakers involving in terrorism and related offenses.

Recently, State government clamored for state policing, yet some governors in the north were alleged for complicit, sponsoring and covering these same terrorists. How can State government fight against the problem they created?

Many leaders had requested that federal government should legalize arms for individual to be able to defend themselves from these blood sucking demons called terrorists.

These leaders are not limited to these:

Senator Ned Nwoko: Has sponsored a bill in the National Assembly to allow citizens to bear arms for self-defence, citing the military being overstretched.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV): A former Lagos State governorship candidate who advocated for federal licensing of firearms due to the government's failure to secure the country.

Deji Adeyanju: A human rights activist calling for the legalisation of firearms for ordinary citizens to defend themselves.

Solomon Dalung: A former Minister of Youth and Sports who joined others in demanding citizens be allowed to acquire guns for self-defence.

Omoyele Sowore: A rights activist and politician advocating for Nigerians' right to bear arms for protection.

Samuel Ortom: Former Governor of Benue State who called for allowing responsible citizens to bear arms to confront bandits and terrorists.

Alhassan Ado-Doguwa: House of Representatives Majority Leader who supported allowing Nigerians to take up arms for defence against terrorists.

Onogu: Advocated for legalising AK-47s for self-defence in rural communities, noting that criminals are often better armed.

Adebayo Raphael: A human rights activist and author calling for the legalisation of firearms and ammunition for better self-defence.

Bello Matawalle: Former Governor of Zamfara State who directed the Commissioner of Police to issue licenses to qualified residents for self-defence.

If the federal government can allow Nigerians to defend themselves as they do in the developed countries, it will surely reduce the atrocities perpetrated by the bandits, kidnappers, robbers and political attackers. Since we have seen the security personnel is not enough to defend citizens, villages and local governments attacked at various states and local government across the country is a testament to the fact that we have shortage of security personnel in the country.

Nigerians will be glad if federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can listen to the cry of the masses, order the ammunition to be legalized as called for by the masses. This will help security buildup, and further decrease the terrorist attacks in the county.
