Osun NUJ Emphasises Character Development To Citizens At Ramadan Lecture

The state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) has called on Osun citizens to imbibe character development at all times, irrespective of the season.
This was made known at the Ramadan lecture delivered by a renowned International Cleric, Sheik Gaosu Shabaabu.
held at the NUJ Secretariat in Osogbo on Tuesday.
The programme which delivered the topic themed "Islam, Ramadan and Refinement of Character" brought together Muslims and Christians to promote interfaith harmony and spiritual growth, aimed to explore the significance of Ramadan in fostering personal growth and spiritual development.
In his lecture, the guest Lecturer, Sheik Jabeer Gaosu Shabaabu,
highlighted the significance of character development in Islam, stressing that the greatest problem in life is "religion without characters." He emphasized the need for equality, self discipline and compassion, citing the example of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
Sheik Shabab also discussed the teaching of Ramadan, including reciting the Holy Quran, performing daily prayers, giving charity and practicing patience in terms of adversity.
The Chief Host who also double as the Chairman, NUJ Osun Council, Dr. Adeyemi Aboderin expressed gratitude to all participants of the Ramadan lecture, and he urged them to apply the knowledge gained to enrich their lives during and beyond Ramadan.
He added that event aimed to promote spiritual reflections, unity and character refinement among all, while fostering greater understanding and cooperation between different faith communities.
In his goodwill messages, Oba Mutalib Adefemi Adelakin, emphasized the important of sustaining good deeds beyond Ramadan.
Earlier in his welcome address, Chairman of the planning Committee, Alhaji Moshood Suleiman, urged the attendees to cultivate love and strengthen relationships between Muslims and Christians during and after the holy month of Ramadan.
The event featured prominent Islamic Scholars, Royal fathers and dignitaries, such as Baba Adini of Osun State Alhaji Fatai Kolawole as the Chairman of the day, the Royal father of the day include, Olororuwo of Ororuwo HRM Oba Adeyemi Adeyanju, the Alabere of Abere HRM Oba Mutalib Adefemi Adelakin Abiade II, the Alagunbeelewo of Agunbeelewo Oba Maroof Olayiwola Lawal, Onijaekun I, Alhaji Murtador Agboola, and Alhaja Solia Adebare among others.
The program also featured other inspiring side attractions like recitation of the holy Quran, Quiz competition and presentation of gifts to the winners and breaking of Iftar by the Invited quests.
