OSUN NUJ HOLDS HISTORIC LENTEN LECTURE

The Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Osun State Council, on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, hosted it's inaugural Lenten Lecture at the NUJ Press Centre, Iwo-Ibadan road, osogbo.
The event, themed "Maximizing the Blessings of Fasting", drew prominent personalities, NUJ members, and stakeholders from across the state.
In his welcome address, NUJ Osun State Chairman, Dr. Adeyemi Aboderin noted that the lecture was a new initiative by the current executive, aimed at enriching members' spiritual growth.
He encouraged attendees to benefit from the lecture, emphasizing it's relevance to their personal and professional lives.
The guest lecturer, Bishop Mike Bamidele of the Victory Chapel International explored the significance of fasting, citing the biblical examples such as Moses and Jesus who fasted for forty days.
He highlighted the benefits of fasting, including spiritual growth, self-reflection, and preparation for future challenges.
The lecture also emphasized the importance of empathy, kindness, and generosity during fasting, urging attendees to feed the needy and support those in need.
The event was not just a lecture but a call to action, reminding attendees that fasting is not just abstaining from food and drinks but about spiritual transformation and growth.
The lecturer, Bishop Mike Bamidele prayed that the lecture would mark a turning point for NUJ, ushering in a new era of spiritual growth and prosperity.
The Choir "Grace Bible Mission, Oke Oniti, Osogbo, also ministered in songs among other activities.
Comrade Adeniyi Kehinde, Chairman of the planning committee and the Secretary Comrade Olusola Egbedofo, gave a vote of thanks, appreciating attendees for their support.
The event was a significant milestone in the NUJ history, marking a new chapter in the Union's commitment to spiritual development and community engagement.
