JABU Vice Chancellor, Prof. O. A. Fakolujo delivers Valedictory lecture, celebrate 70 year birthday, lunch a book, as he retires after 38 years of service from University of Ibadan
The 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, Prof. Olasebikan Alade Fakolujo delivers a valedictory lecture to mark his 70th birthday and retirement from active service after decades of outstanding contribution to engineering education and university administration.
Delivering the lecture titled _“Illuminating the Path: A Reflection on Nurturing Excellence in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Nigerian University System”_, the Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering called for urgent investment in specialised laboratories and research infrastructure.
“Electrical and electronic engineering is not a singular field but an interconnected ecosystem of specialised domains,” he noted. “Each requires dedicated laboratories, advanced equipment, highly trained personnel, and sustained research investment. The danger of ‘disciplinary compression’ is that it widens the gap between university training, technological frontiers, and industry expectations.”
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Professor K. O. Adebowale described Prof. Fakolujo as “a builder of men, a beacon of integrity, and one of UI’s finest exports to the academic world. His commitment to excellence has illuminated the path for countless students and colleagues.”
Throughout his career, Prof. Fakolujo taught Digital Signal Processing, Power Electronics, Electronic Circuits, Digital Computer Design, and Microcomputer Hardware and Software Techniques. His dedication to capacity building earned him visiting appointments at FUNAAB, LAUTECH, LASU, University of Ilorin, University of Maiduguri, and Osun State University and currently the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor Joseph Ayo Babalola University.
He was born in Ilesa, Osun State, the distinguished engineer and administrator retires with a legacy of scholarship, mentorship, and service that will continue to inspire generations.
Launching of book in his honour titled "Emerging Trends in Electrical and Electronic Engineering" and birthday celebration follow immediately one after the other.
