A wave of sorrow swept through Oke-Ila in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State today, as family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to bid a tearful farewell to the late Executive Secretary of the Osun State Council for Arts and Culture, Olori Christiana Solape Abolarin.
The funeral service, held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Oke-Ila, drew mourners from across the country and beyond, all united in grief as they paid their final respects to a beloved wife, leader, and public servant.
Presiding over the service, Pastor Olusola Ajayi delivered a poignant sermon titled “My Redeemer Liveth”, drawing from Job 13:15. He reminded the congregation of the inevitability of death and urged them to place their trust in God rather than in man. Pastor Ajayi described the late Olori as a devoted Christian and a dedicated public servant who remained faithful to God throughout her life.
The solemn occasion was attended by dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, alongside traditional rulers, political leaders, heads of government agencies, civil servants, and members of the wider community.
Born on June 21, 1973, to the family of Pa Gabriel Abiola Ogunbode in Igbeti, Olorunsogo Local Government Area of Oyo State, Solape Abolarin began her civil service career in Oyo State on July 3, 2000, as an Executive Officer (General Duties). She was later confirmed on July 3, 2002, and rose through the ranks, serving in key ministries including Finance, Lands, and the Office of the Governor.
On April 6, 2012, she married Oba Adedokun Omoniyi Abolarin, Aroyinkeye I of Oke-Ila, and subsequently transferred her service to Osun State on February 1, 2014, where she was appointed Principal Administrative Officer and posted to the Bureau of Public Service Pensions.
Known for her discipline, moral integrity, and dedication to duty, Olori Solape served as Director of Administration and Supplies in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. She was appointed Executive Secretary of the Osun State Council for Arts and Culture on January 23, 2023, a position she held until her passing.
Her memory will be cherished not only for her professionalism but for the kindness, humility, and grace she extended to all who crossed her path.
